| I support the work of the Juana Briones Heritage Foundation to acquire and restore Juana's Briones' house in order to create a living history program for future generations. The house is one of a handful still standing in California that were owned by a Latina living in the 19th century. This house is of immeasurable significance. It preserves the story of a businesswoman, land owner, single mother and humanitarian.
The property has further historic significance because of others associated with it. They include the Indian family of Jose Gorgonio, botanist Charles Nott, artists Edit Cox and Marjorie Eaton and a Japanese-American family who stayed there while resettling after the WWII Internment. Truly, this is California's story, one of change and continuity. |

I'm adding my voice to others, so this legacy is preserved. |
